Insure Lens provides educational insurance coverage guidance for U.S. consumers. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our website and coverage assessment.
Information we collect
We collect assessment answers you choose to provide, such as ZIP code, household circumstances, assets, priorities, and coverage preferences. If you request an emailed coverage map, we collect your email address. If you create an account, we also collect your email address, first name, optional last name, a password stored only as a cryptographic hash, optional profile details you choose to provide, and email-verification or password-reset tokens when you use those features.
Registration creates a consumer session, but we require email verification before claiming or saving an assessment, running a per-coverage deep dive, or returning history, export, profile, or other account-center data. An authenticated account holder may access the minimum account-security deletion flow even if the email address is unverified. Once verified, we store the saved assessment's answers, generated guidance, claim metadata, refinement answers, optional refinement free text (length-limited), and timestamps linked to your account. We also collect device and usage information such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, referring pages, service logs, and sponsored-link click identifiers.
How we use information
We use assessment answers to generate coverage guidance, tailor the availability of quote partners by state, operate and secure the service, and measure aggregated product performance. We do not use assessment responses to make insurance underwriting or eligibility decisions.
If you have an account, we use your email to authenticate you, send verification and password-reset messages, deliver requested analysis emails, and provide security notices about account changes. After your email is verified, we use saved assessment and refinement history to display your account center, rerun guidance for deep dives you request, and produce JSON exports you ask for. If you register or verify your email while a coverage result is on screen, we may attach that assessment to your account as described in the Terms of Use. When you create an account we record that you accepted the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, including the time and version of those documents.
Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, server logs, and similar technologies. Necessary tools keep the site, coverage assessment, and your privacy choice working. Analytics and advertising tools, if enabled by an administrator, load only after you accept them or save that choice. A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as an opt-out of advertising and sharing. You can change this in Cookie Settings or on the Do Not Sell or Share page. Browser controls may also block these technologies, but some features may not work correctly.
Anonymous usage analytics
We operate first-party, privacy-preserving analytics: pages you view are counted using an anonymous identifier stored in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie). Your IP address is used only to estimate country/region/city-level location, is stored as a salted hash, and is never retained in readable form. This data is used solely to understand site traffic and is never sold or shared.
Sponsored quote links
When you select a participating quote partner, we may record the coverage type, state, and a click identifier before redirecting you. The partner’s own privacy policy governs information you provide after leaving Insure Lens. A partner may use the referral identifier to attribute the visit and compensate us. We do not sell insurance or provide binding quotes.
How we disclose information
We disclose information to vendors that host, secure, analyze, or support the service and send requested email; to participating partners when you choose a sponsored link; to authorities when legally required; and in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell assessment answers for money. Some state laws may define certain analytics or partner referrals as “selling,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising even when no money is exchanged.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and agreement enforcement. Email-verification and password-reset tokens expire within a short period (typically 15 minutes for verification codes and 24 hours for password-reset links). Consumer sessions expire after 30 days or when you sign out. While your account is active, we retain saved assessments and refinement history so you can reopen reports. Unclaimed anonymous assessments are retained for 90 days and then deleted; only non-identifying aggregate data may remain. When you delete your account, we remove account credentials, profile information, all consumer sessions, outstanding email-verification and password-reset tokens, and claim metadata, and delete or irreversibly anonymize associated assessments and refinements as described in our deletion process.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your state, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy of personal information; to learn about disclosures; and to opt out of certain selling, sharing, or targeted advertising. Account holders with verified email addresses can request a portable JSON export of profile, assessment, and refinement data through the account center or Contact page. Any authenticated account holder, including one whose email is unverified, can access the minimum account security flow to delete the account. Phase 2 does not provide account-data PDF export. Deletion removes the account data and technical records described above and deletes or anonymizes linked assessment data. You may also appeal a denied request where required. Submit other requests through our Contact page. We may verify your identity and will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable rights. An authorized agent may submit a request where state law permits.
Your choices and sensitive information
Providing contact information is optional unless you choose to create an account or request an emailed analysis. Per-coverage deep dives include optional free-text fields; do not enter Social Security numbers, policy numbers, medical diagnoses, financial-account details, or other sensitive identifiers in assessment, refinement, or account fields. Insure Lens is not intended to collect protected health information or to act as a service governed by HIPAA.
Children
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information so we can review and delete it where required.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will post the revised effective date here. Insure Lens is operated by Insure Lens. For privacy questions or requests, use the working email address listed on our Contact page.
